Building...

....a gingerbread house.  Flat-pack from Ikea.  It didn't look so good and it didn't taste nearly as good as homemade but hey, it was up in 5 minutes and then down in about 2!

Nimble little fingers stealing adorments

I'd love to make a beautiful one from scratch....I'm pretty sure it'll never happen though.  Have you ever made a proper one or even a flat-pack that looked ace?

  1. I would LOVE to make one Sam, but you know how anal I am I am sure it would be a disaster? I already I have a design in my head with stain glass windows and the rest. Maybe next year...

  3. Nope. I'm aspiring to one day make the Ikea one.. but haven't found the Christmas spirit within me yet. I bet yours looked wonderful with all those smarties. Yummo.

  4. Hmmm, my flat packed one from Ikea took about 5 hours to construct. That is what happens when you man handle slabs of gingerbread on a muggy day in Australian summer. It took the kids less time to decorate it. And tonight 7 kids devoured it. OUrs was an exercise in lollies and icing held together by small bits of gingerbread.

I don't make my own. Maybe one year I will try but for now I am happy to buy pre-fab and then make gingerbread bickies with the kidlets.

    Have a great Christmas, Sam.

  5. I had to sit out this year - had the flu. But the family took part, with brother (not yet) in law making the slabs, and niece and nephew decorating under supervision by my sister. Rules included - if you lick your hands you must wash your hands, and if you cuddle the dog you must wash your hands!
